Peace Haven is a nonprofit organization based in Hayward, California. The organization started three years ago during the pandemic. We worked with Golden Safari restaurant to provide meals and groceries to individuals and families during the pandemic. During this period, we also donated food and groceries to first responders workers, fire departments, and other public workers.
Lessons learned?
Our observations during the Covid period were that we needed to find ways to put smiles on people’s faces and bring hope and encouragement during these trying times.
We started small and realized there was so much need in the community. We began to expand our services. However, our resources and donations were limited.
We were able to partner with the Alameda County Food Bank, Dig Deep Farms Food Hub, and Oakland Senior Centers to meet our expanding needs temporarily. Our goal is to expand our services by developing, launching, and operating our Freedom Store.
We will use future donated funds and grants to serve the community by providing free meals, and groceries and will provide jobs for low-income individuals.
